Leader is not born, leader is created
The whole process starts inside of us, in our own mind. The question is how can we become strong leader? Leader, who inspires others and drives people toward excellence? Leader, who is responsible
and spreads sense of trust?
If you want to be great leader, your first step is to learn
what the traits make you a great leader.
To become a leader that you have always wanted to be, you can do some simple things:
Control yourself. Remember history. Every
great leader in order to stay focused, had became a master of will power and self discipline. You can't lead anyone to attain their goals if you do not
have your own goal and have no drive to achieve it.
- Even if it is challenging, you need to be enough disciplined in order to be there where you need to be and when you need to be there, no matter whether you want to or not. If you are strong enough in your resolve and succeed to resist temptations to give up, then you are an example to live up to for others .
- Carefully choose right emotional response to any complicated situation. It can be that sometimes you need to keep silent about your inner thoughts, even if you do not like something, but you must to do it in order to set a positive example.
Be clear about your goals. If you want that people which follow you, share your work ethic and vision, they should completely
understand deep meaning of what they are doing. You must communicate with your team on every step of the way, to be sure that your followers are on the same wavelength and that they know what you are expecting of
them.
- Best way is to involve your team members into the whole planning process and ideas implementation. Participating in this gives a great sense of ownership toward the end result to everyone.
Praise highly and criticize constructively. Do not forget to praise great workers and criticize when it is needed. But be careful to choose the way how you criticize and praise your followers, as it can make big difference in effective leadership.
- Be sure to praise publicly those people who are doing excellent work for you. Praising will give sense of accomplishment to a person and will drive him to do even better.
- Otherwise, when any of your workers did something wrong, you should give constructive criticism, but to do it you need privately. You must suggest solutions on how situation can be improved and take enough time for answer of any questions. Your followers will accept such your input more willingly if they be sure you wanted to help, and had not intentions to harm.
Know your people. To heartily lead group of followers, you should truly understand your people' hopes and dreams, their pains, struggles and goals. If you have not true sense about people with whom you are working, all your good
intentions mean nothing. Get to know your team, be sincere about their sorrows and joys.
- Don't forget talk to your team and get to know them. Get to know each other on a
closer personal level will sure strengthen the ties between you. People will want to do more and better for you because you will be more to them than just a boss.
- Be their leader in first order, and be their friend in second. If you are truly their leader, this means that there will be times when you have to make difficult decisions. It is important that these decisions will be be affected by personal relationships.
No matter where your leadership role will take you with a time, you must believe still that you can be a
strong leader. Always remember, that if you want to lead others, first of all you must be
disciplined yourself. You perfectly know, that your actions speak much louder than
anything you are saying.
If you want to gain respect of others, you must strive to lead by your own example in every
area of life. Follow these simple guidelines, and you will be on right way to become a true great leader!
